CGCC Launches on The 30th Anniversary of Canada’s Recognition of Georgia’s Independence

Today, December 23rd, 2021, at 10:00 PM Eastern the Niagara Falls will be lit in the colours of the Georgian flag to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Canada’s recognition of Georgia’s independence. On Christmas Day – December 25th, 1991, this decision was made by the government of the then Prime Minister of Canada Brian Mulroney. Canada was among only a handful of countries that recognized Georgia’s independence from the USSR in 1991.

Inspired by the significant progress that the outgoing Ambassador of Georgia, His Excellency Konstantin Kavtaradze, has engineered towards deeper political, cultural and economic ties between the two countries, many Canadian entrepreneurial leaders are noticing exciting and mutually beneficial opportunities for Georgia-Canada business relations.

Building on this momentum, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of Canada recognizing Georgia as an independent state, we are privileged to officially launch the Canadian-Georgian Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) – a Canadian non-governmental organization aiming to promote, support and advocate for the development and expansion of bilateral trade, investment, commerce, and educational & cultural relations between Canada & Georgia.

CGCC is proud to co-celebrate the 30th anniversary of Canada’s recognition of Georgia’s independence together with the Embassy of Georgia to Canada. You may watch the live feed of the Niagara Falls being lit in the Georgian Flag colours from our website.
